He still holds the record for most assist in a single game with 16 assist (and 0 turnovers). After graduating from Brookline he went to Umass-Dartmouth (D3) for one year before transferring to Mount Ida College (D3) and becoming a 3 year starter and 2 year captain. In his senior year at Mount Ida Darren averaged 15 pts, 5 rebs, 5 assists and was named to the GNAC All-Conference 3rd Team.
